Journal of Undergraduate Ethnography

Journal of Undergraduate Ethnography

As explained in their mission statement, The Journal for Undergraduate Ethnography (JUE)  is an online publication for undergraduate academic writing. The JUE  distributes original scholarly ethnographies from a variety of disciplinary areas, sharing insights into subcultures, rituals, and social institutions with crossovers between anthropology, sociology, American studies, urban studies as well as programs in education or marketing.

I was the sole designer for Issue 7:1. This role put me in direct contact with the undergraduate authors across the globe. Working alongside the authors meant dissecting their writing style and conveying meaning through design and layout for each individual essay.

Additionally, each photo in an essay were taken by the author in their research location. I was able to direct each author to take specific photos that I curated to not only supplement their essay, but be incorporated into the anatomy of the journal.
